Playboi Carti fans have been starving for new music after years of unfulfilled album drops and release dates. After five years, Playboi Carti has finally delivered, and he did not hold back with the release of his new album MUSIC. The album boasts a hefty thirty-song tracklist and has a strong list of features. Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar are all over this album, with other notable features from Young Thug, Future, Skepta, Ty Dolla $ign, The Weeknd, and Jhené Aiko.

The album received a very mixed reaction from fans, and comments on the album have been very polarizing. Much like his previous album, Whole Lotta Red, this album will most likely take time to be accepted by the fan base. However, there are many fans who claim that he has saved music this year and that it is the best album of the decade. It is a very solid listen and has a wide variety of samples and beats that keep you entertained throughout the entirety of the thirty-song album, which I have not seen executed this well before. Carti has changed his style and persona several times throughout his career, and with the release of the new album, he has dropped his "Vamp" aesthetic for a simpler look, but this does not mean he has gone for a simpler sound. MUSIC is full of songs that make you want to jump in a mosh pit and go feral, and that is exactly what Carti fans want. Carti sets this mood with the opening track "POP OUT," which perfectly encapsulates the "rage music" that Carti has become so famous for. Although he is known for his rage music, songs like "RATHER LIE" and "BACKDOOR" bring a mellow energy to the album that breaks up the intensity of the album allowing for a more diverse listening experience.

This album was the first album where Carti used his "deep voice," which he shocked people with on his feature on Travis Scott's "FEIN." His frequent use of different voices allows him to have features of himself on songs with no features, making the listening experience that much more interesting. Carti dropping his mysterious vamp side led to one of the greatest performances we have seen from him in a long time. His Rolling Loud set, days after the album release, was a perfect milestone for the success the Atlanta-born rapper gained. He brought more energy than we have seen from him in a long time and stayed long past curfew to deliver one of his most memorable sets, leaving him emotional playing his last song.
